A Page from Van's Diary
Anyone is susceptible to falling prey to a cult. People think, “not me, I’m too smart.” The truth is that being smart is no defense. It’s not how intelligent you are, but how needy you are, that matters. The easiest people to recruit are the lost ones: those that have abusive parents, or have recently felt the loss a loved one—the outcasts. Unseen, undesired, they want to be loved, to be accepted, to be noticed. They are perfect for the picking. Rudy fits the bill. And his friends, too. All of us, at some point, go through hard times. Timing is everything.
